About the work
View of the Thames. This painting depicts London on a misty winter afternoon. Many artists have followed suit with this motif. The artist has taken an unusual point of view for which he has used a photograph to document it. From this point of view, no other examples are known and that is why it is so unique compared to other artists who preceded him. This painting has undergone many changes over the years because the artist wasn't satisfied with it. Now it is as it was intended.
Louis abandoned the motif because London, with its modern skyline, no longer inspires him. That's why this painting is unique and on the wall, of rare beauty, just like the water lilies. The interwoven pattern of colors and the transition of light shades create a harmonious whole. The artist has created a unique pictorial style here, but it is clear how much he learned from the Impressionists. This was preceded by years of intense study and difficult to convince or satisfy oneself. If I'm satisfied, it's good, not when others think so.
